Life insurance pays a sum to your family if you are not there to earn it. The most efficient form is a term plan: a large sum assured for a low premium, with no maturity value. For most people it is the right starting point.
Savings-linked products, endowment plans and unit-linked plans combine insurance with an investment component. They have a place for some goals, but their charges and returns need to be looked at plainly against holding a term plan and investing the difference separately.
The sum assured is the decision that matters. We work it from your outstanding loans, the years of income your dependants would need, and the goals that would still have to be funded. Cover that is too low is the most common mistake we see, and the cheapest to fix.
What you get
- Sum assured worked from liabilities, dependants and years of income to replace
- Term insurance compared across insurers on premium and claim settlement record
- Savings, endowment and ULIP products explained honestly, including their costs
- Existing policies reviewed for gaps and for plans that no longer suit you
